Events

Littlehampton Town Council is proud to organise a wide variety of community events throughout the year. From major highlights like Armed Forces Day and Screen on the Green, to family focused such as the Sandcastle Competition and the Christmas Lights Switch-On, there’s something for everyone. We work hard to promote local community groups and include as many as possible in our events, creating opportunities for residents and visitors to come together, have fun, and celebrate our vibrant town.

Our events aim to:

  • Promote an inclusive experience for all
  • Encourage public engagement
  • Create opportunities for community fundraising and awareness
  • Offer spaces for events that celebrate creativity and local pride

Our events are guided by the Events Strategy which sets out our goals, guiding us in developing the events programme.

To help us achieve the goals set out in the Events Strategy, we have created a detailed Action Plan. This plan outlines key steps, timelines, and responsibilities to ensure our events are inclusive, engaging, and aligned with community priorities.

In addition to Town Council events, there is plenty more happening locally, including exhibitions and activities at Littlehampton Museum, regular sessions at the Southfields Jubilee Centre and K2 Youth and Community Centre. There are also several events organised throughout the year by community groups such as the Littlehampton bonfire and fireworks night. Littlehampton Town Council is committed to creating vibrant, inclusive events that bring the community together. Support funding is available to voluntary, cultural, commercial, charitable, and non-profit organisations hosting locally focused events with a positive impact on the community.

Event Support Funding aims to:

  • Support voluntary, cultural, charitable, commercial, and non-profit organisations
  • Enable locally focused events with community benefits
  • Encourage creativity and enthusiasm for events hosted in the town

Applications are assessed on alignment with the Events Strategy, including community benefit, inclusivity, and value for money.

Event organisers hosting outdoor activities on public land or highways must comply with requirements set by Arun District Council (ADC) and, in some cases, West Sussex County Council (WSCC). These authorities oversee licensing, road closures, and event applications to ensure safety and smooth operations.

Road Closures

If your event will stop the flow of traffic on a public highway, you’ll need a Road Closure Order. For more information regarding application submission deadlines and requirements, please visit Arun District Council’s website.

To hold an event on Council land in the Arun area, you must submit an Event Application Form. For more information regarding application submission deadlines and requirements, please visit Arun District Council’s website.
