Town Merit Awards
Littlehampton Town Council is seeking nominations for individuals and groups who make significant contributions to the town and townsfolk. The awards will be presented at the Annual Town Meeting being held on 23 April 2026.
Those who work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of our residents, continuously contribute to a particular issue which has wide reaching benefits for Littlehampton or help enhance the town’s reputation can be nominated.
Past award winners include Arundel and Littlehampton District Scout Band, in recognition of their support to major events in Littlehampton over the last 35 years, June Caffyn, in recognition of her tireless fund raising for charity, her generosity of spirit and selfless support for Shopmobility clients over the years. With gratitude and thanks for 26 years working and volunteering for Shopmobility and Ian Neville who founded the Armed Forces Veterans Breakfast Club in Littlehampton, supporting veterans, retired and serving and their families. He led the fundraising activities that enabled the group to purchase 'Bob' the minibus which enables veterans to attend events and activities, hospital appointments and gain access to mental health care and support services.
Speaking about the Nomination Appeal, Mayor of Littlehampton, Councillor Alan Butcher, said: “We are sincerely appreciative of the kind and generous community we have in Littlehampton – something I have observed countless times. From individuals spearheading charitable initiatives to dedicated teams of volunteers offering a range of services that enrich people's lives, whether through vital support or entertainment, their efforts are truly commendable. The Merit Awards provide a heartfelt way to acknowledge and publicly express our gratitude for these contributions.”
