Have your say on the new Keystone Youth Centre

Littlehampton Town Council and Arun District Council are preparing to replace the existing Keystone Centre, Eldon Way, Wick, with a brand-new youth centre and they want your views on how to improve the facilities.

Three community engagement events are taking place at the existing Centre in Eldon Way, Wick, and everyone is invited to go along and chat with Council Officers.

The sessions are on Tuesday 19th February 6-9pm, Wednesday 20th February 3-6pm and Thursday 21st February 10-12pm. A wealth of ideas was raised at a session with students at the Littlehampton Academy that took place earlier in the month.

Speaking about the initiative Chair of the Property & Personnel Committee, Councillor Tracey Baker said: “The partnership between the two Councils aims to improve facilities by providing a modern and versatile space, with an enhanced outdoor recreation area, the proposed location is almost opposite the existing Centre. We want the new space to be available to the whole community.”

Councillor Ian Buckland, Chair of the Community Resources Committee added: “We are pleased that our young people and residents will be closely involved from the very start of this project. I urge people to complete the online survey. You have until the Friday 8th March to do so. An update will be available in April on our website.”

Councillor Mike Northeast said: “These are very exciting times for the Keystone Centre, and it is something the management committee have been pursuing for years. The present building is in desperate need of repair and modernisation so hopefully the proposed newbuild will deliver a youth facility that is much needed and that the whole community be proud of.”
