The Sports Funding scheme returns to Littlehampton for a second year, with a total of £4,000 available. The programme is run by Littlehampton Town Council with support from the Littlehampton Sports Forum.

It is designed to support local sports clubs and providers of healthy activities that deliver benefits to Littlehampton residents. It also supports initiatives that focus on cultural enrichment, engagement opportunities, guidance or enhancing access to sports activities. All applicants must demonstrate how their project will 'widen participation in sports and healthy activities in the most inclusive way'.

Last year, a pot of £2,924 was granted to five sports groups. Among them was Able Kicks who received £750 towards SEND teams for adults and children. The funding supported more families and sustainability of sessions to increase availability across the Littlehampton area. Littlehampton Rugby Club were also awarded £630 for new equipment to expand and upgrade their minis, juniors and women’s teams.

Chair of the Community Resources Committee and the Sports Forum, Councillor Freddie Tandy, said: “Following the incredible response when Sports Funding was launched last year, we are delighted to have doubled the funding available this year in order to continue supporting organisations that keep Littlehampton active and engaged. Whether through sporting engagement activities, wellbeing programmes or new participation initiatives, these grants can help local groups expand their reach, remove barriers to participation and create new opportunities for people to enjoy the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.”

Applications will open on Monday 14 September and close on Monday 26 October. Funding is available for both new organisations and those the council has previously supported, offering a chance to expand or enhance their programmes. Organisations seeking funding are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria and submit their application online via the Littlehampton Town Council’s website before the deadline: https://www.littlehampton-tc.gov.uk/sports-funding-application-form-2026.
