The sun was shining as thousands of residents celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Littlehampton Town Show and Family Fun Day at Rosemead Park on Saturday 9 September 2023.

Throughout the day, there was a fantastic lineup of performances from live music to a dinosaur show! To kick start the day, local award-winning cheerleading group, Sussex Tornados wowed the crowd with an amazing showcase of tumbles and twists. Followed by performances and magic shows from two local children’s entertainers Nick Clark and Nolan Davis. Dinosaurs also made a special appearance at this year’s event with a prehistoric performance. The animatronic show went down a treat with children and grown-ups alike.

The main stage provided a welcoming party atmosphere as two great bands played family favourites; The Kelly Collab with their R’n’B fusion and The Shakeout with its wide range of popular hit songs.

Children also enjoyed a display of inflatables and rides from Nic and Ben’s entertainment, an interactive dinosaur show, meeting Super Mario, Bluey and other TV show characters as well as art workshops courtesy of Way Out There and Back and Artswork.

The food court treated visitors to a variety of delicious food including hot dogs and burgers from Nic and Ben’s, sweet treats from Kayla’s Kitchen, flavoursome Mexican food from Hey Amigo, an array of sausage rolls from The Sausage Roll Kitchen, loaded fries from Jim Jam’s Bakes and a variety of hot drinks from Howie’s Coffee. Adults could cool off in the sunshine with beverages from the Littlehampton Lion’s Beer Tent.

The community marquee, showcased almost 50 stalls giving visitors a chance to discover local community groups, take part in games, raffles and even the chance to splash the Mayor of Littlehampton, who raised £111 for local charities in men’s mental health awareness.

The horticultural and craft show, organised by the Town Show committee, displayed some amazing entries from residents including cakes, vegetables, children’s arts and crafts, and flowers! There was an outstanding exhibition of talent and dedication from those who participated in the Town Show auction at the end of the day.

Speaking about the event, Chair of the Community Resources Committee, Councillor Sean Lee, said: “The Town Show and Family Fun Day was a fantastic end to the summer events! We are grateful for the support from local community groups, contractors, visitors and our sponsor, BoKlok. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and it was amazing to see everyone come together in one place and create a brilliant atmosphere! Thank you to everyone who attended the event and supporting local causes by participating in the many fundraising activities in the community marquee.”

The next Town Council events are Remembrance Sunday on 12 November and the Christmas Lights Switch on on Saturday 18 November.
