Littlehampton’s Red Bridge Photo Wins Competition

Littlehampton Town Council marked Sussex Day with a photography competition open to local residents. Sussex Day is celebrated on 16 June each year to celebrate the rich heritage and culture of Sussex. The event takes place on St Richard's Day, the feast day of St Richard of Chichester, Sussex's patron saint.

The photography competition encouraged entrants to capture the beauty of Littlehampton and that is exactly what was achieved by the many entries. Winning this year’s competition with a sunset photo of Littlehampton’s red bridge was Lilla Wantuch-Michalska.

Speaking about the competition, Chair of the Community Resources Committee, Councillor Billy Blanchard-Cooper said: “The entries from amateur photographers were impressive and I had a very hard time choosing a winner. Lilla’s photograph is stunning and it shows one of the town’s beautiful assets in a different light, literally. Well done.”

Presenting Lilla with a £50 voucher to spend in Pier Road Coffee and Art, Littlehampton Town Mayor Councillor Jill Long, said: “Congratulations and thank you for entering the competition. It is always great to see the talent of local keen photographers.”

Lilla was thrilled to have won the competition and explained that she took up photography as she was inspired by her father who is a photographer. You can see some of Lilla’s photography in the upcoming Littlehampton Arts Trail starting on 2 July.
