Littlehampton High Street has been home to free Local Love Arts events every Wednesday from 27 July until 24 August. The events, each with a different theme, provided families with live entertainment, activities, and the chance to browse a variety of stalls.

The free family-friendly events were organised by Littlehampton Town Council as part of a joint initiative with Arun District Council to support the local economy during the public realm improvement works. They were supported by Littlehampton’s Organisation of Community Arts and Applause Touring, a cultural organisation funded by Arts Council England.

Live entertainment included performances from The Puppet Van, Sound Catchers, Buzz, Cancer United Choir, Nolan the Magician, Terry Carvey, Blue Moon Jazz, Becca, and Jamie B.

There were plenty of ways to get creative, with free workshops from Art with Tricia, local artist Ben Cav, the Buzz and Puppet Van teams and Littlehampton Organisation of Community Arts. Activities took place at each event with a circus skills workshop led by Poi Passion, face painting from Dancing Brush Face Painting, Mark Lake’s Ukulele workshop, Lokee Events’ silent disco, interactive bubble play, and rides from Nic and Ben’s Entertainment.

To bring some magic to the programme, special guests Elsa, Minion, and Buzz Lightyear visited the High Street for the programme finale on Wednesday 24 August much to the delight of local children.

Visitors had the chance to buy items from local businesses, Eco-Friendly Stuff, The Vegan Street Food Company, Straikes Vinyl Records, Pixel Vault Art, and Sunset Candles.

Speaking about the events, Town Mayor and Vice Chair of the Policy and Finance Committee, Councillor Jill Long said: “It was fantastic to see residents and visitors enjoying the summer holidays and attending the events to take part in the exciting activities on offer. It is lovely to see the new High Street being used now the public realm works are partly completed".

The next event organised by Littlehampton Town Council is the Town Show and Family Fun Day on Saturday 10 September. Visit www.visitlittlehampton.co.uk/whats-on for more information on all the events happening in Littlehampton.
