Festive fun in Littlehampton High Street
On Saturday 10 December, Littlehampton High Street was once again filled with free festive activities as the second and final Love Local Christmas Fun Day took place. Organised by Littlehampton Town Council and supported by Arun District Council, the free event drew large crowds keen to enjoy the festive entertainment on offer.
Following a similar format to the first event, held on 26 November, the day brought festive cheer to the Town with live performances from Malcolm the Magician, the cast from Littlehampton Musical Comedy Society’s “Puss in Boots”, Joel Peter and August Radio Project. Children were spoilt for choice with free festive face painting and themed rides as well as a creative workshop with Art with Tricia which saw them make beautiful Christmas decorations.
Ensuring that the day was truly magical for the little ones, a visit from Disney’s Frozen characters Olaf and Anna provided much excitement all round as did the free balloons especially modelled to children’s imaginations.
One of the highlights of the day was the Christmas Jumper Competition judged by Town Mayor Councillor Jill Long and Chair of Arun District Council Councillor Samantha-Jayne Staniforth. There were gingerbread men, reindeer, festive Bluey and Santa hats but it was the magical Christmas unicorn that swayed the judges’ decision which saw April win a £25 voucher for The Works.
In addition to all the fun and entertainment there were gift stalls including the Littlehampton Town Show Committee selling their 2023 calendar packed with stunning photos of the Town – visit their Facebook page to find out how to get your hands on the last few remaining copies. Food stalls included Kayla’s Kitchen selling incredibly delicious savoury snacks and Summit Tasty with their loaded fries inspired by world flavours.
Speaking at the event, Town Mayor Councillor Jill Long, said: “I would like to thank everyone for attending today’s event. It has been lovely to see families enjoying the free entertainment and activities. Don’t forget to take part in the Twelve days of Christmas trail, which will run until 18 December. Find 12 giant and unique Christmas decorations displayed in shop windows across the town and you could be in with a chance of winning one of 12 prizes.”
The 12 Days of Christmas Competition runs until the 18 December and there are 12 prizes up for grabs donated by local businesses with the top prize being a Nintendo Switch. Entry forms are printed in this year's What’s on Guide for Christmas and available from Manor House reception, High Street stores and online at www.littlehampton-tc.gov.uk/christmastrail
