Littlehampton Town Council supports Bonfire Society

Last week the Littlehampton Bonfire Society made the difficult announcement that this year’s event would not be going ahead due to concerns over visitor safety and the constraints Covid-19 had put on their fundraising.  

Speaking about the news the Chair of the Community Resources Committee, Councillor Billy Blanchard-Cooper said: “The Town Council was saddened by the news this fantastic event is not happening this year but it is a decision we completely understand.  We have similarly had to cancel many events this year. The Council will continue to support the Society financially and provide guidance if needed. Hopefully it won’t be much longer before the pandemic is over.  Like the Bonfire Society, we are making plans for what we anticipate will be a great 2021.”  

Littlehampton Town Council supports the Bonfire Society through a Service Funding agreement.
