Littlehampton Town Council is delighted to announce a name has been picked for the new elf illumination, chosen from many entries, the lady equipped with her bucket and spade is now called “Evie”.

The winning name was suggested by Ruby North aged 7.

Ruby has won the honour of switching the Town’s Christmas lights with the Town Mayor on Friday 30th November when the big Switch-on Event is being held in the High Street.

Speaking about the Town Council’s initiative, Councillor Ian Buckland, Chair of the Community Resources Committee said: “The community really got involved with the competition making it a hard task to pick a name from the many creative suggestions. I feel that the chosen name fits the new elf really well and I am looking forward to seeing it projected onto a building during the festive period.”

Evie is part of a group of elves which include another new one for 2018, Dr Elferskelter, introduced as nod to the 70 years of the NHS and all of the incredible people who have, and continue, to work for the organisation. Dr Elferskelter will be unveiled at the switch on.

Sussex artist Steve Carroll has once again created the elves and everyone is encouraged to take an ‘elfie selfie’ with their favourite elf, sharing their snaps on social media with #LAelfie.
