It's all about the pancakes this Valentine's Day

Littlehampton is bracing itself for its turn at hosting the Olympics, the Charity Pancake Olympics that is. The fun and challenging event is back and is set to be a great feat for all involved.
The event, organised by Littlehampton Town Council and supported by the Sainsbury’s and Titan Self Storage will take place in the High Street on Saturday 14th February between 11-1pm.
The annual event has seen over 20 teams of wannabe Olympians return year after year to battle it out for the coveted Gold Frying Pan and £100 for their chosen charity courtesy of Titan Self Storage. The Silver team will receive £50 for their charity courtesy of Leaders Estate Agents and the Bronze team will receive £25 courtesy of the Fish Factory.
Teams of four adults and/or children are invited to take part in a series of Olympic-inspired events to raise funds for their chosen charity. There will be three disciplines that not only involve pancakes as is now the tradition but this year will be themed around Valentine’s Day, they include cupid curling, romantic relay and flirty flipping. Team members will be going head to head to win Gold, Silver or Bronze medals, which are actually frying pans! The current title holder is the Enable Me team from Arcade Road.
The Chair of the Town Council’s Community Resources Committee, Cllr Malcolm Belchamber MBE said: “As a previous judge I have had the privilege of meeting past participants and witness their boundless energy and determination to raise funds for local causes. Hundreds of pounds are raised each year at this event, supporting vital services in Littlehampton. Everyone from young and old are welcome to take part so make sure you sign up and support a local charity.”
