Community Facility - Hampton Park

A new community facility for Hampton Park

Thank you for taking the time to come and find out more about our exciting new community venture.

Littlehampton Town Council is developing plans for a brand-new community facility, to be located within the Hampton Park Development, North Littlehampton.

We want to work with you to build a centre that meets the needs of our community, to do this we need to understand your views, ideas and opinions to help shape the emerging design.

By involving the community at this early stage, we hope to understand more about local requirements, explore different options for funding and use this knowledge so that we can deliver a centre that we can all be truly proud of.

welcome

Persimmon Homes are the developers responsible for delivering the Hampton Park Estate in North Littlehampton.

As part of the outline planning consent (reference: LU/47/11) for the North Littlehampton Development, there is a legal agreement known as a Section 106 Agreement.

The Agreement sets out provision for community facilities including land and funding for a community centre.

We plan to invest funding secured from the development of Hampton Park Estate to help deliver this centre.

The proposed location within the wider Hampton Park development can be seen on this document.

Your feedback will help to inform our designs and enable us to:

  • Create a facility that meets the needs of the local community
  • Provide a functional, safe, accessible, and sustainable facility
  • Support the delivery of youth services for local young people
  • Provide sufficient car and cycle parking

Your input will feed into the initial designs for the new facility. These designs will then be used to continue consulting with the local community.

We intend to present more detailed plans to the community ahead of a planning application being submitted to Arun District Council.

Our website will be updated as the project progresses as well as providing the opportunity to comment.

We would expect that following the consultation process we will submit a planning application in early 2024, with a view to opening the new centre in 2026. The proposed timeline is set out below.

  • Seeking views               October 2023

  • Feasibility and design  Autumn /Winter 2023

  • Planning application    Spring 2024

  • New facility opened      2026

We are keen to hear your views, opinions and ideas about what you would like to see made available at your local community centre. What would make you want to use this facility?

  • Flexible space?
  • Kitchen?
  • Café?
  • Storage?
  • Outside space?
  • Easy to get to?
  • Opening times?

There are several ways you can provide your comments on our proposals:

  • By using the online form
  • By using one of the feedback forms provided at the Town Council Offices, our events, or we will be back at the market stall in the High Street on Friday 1 March 2024.
