Garden Competition 2017

Gardens & Allotments Competition in partnership with Ferring Nurseries Ferring Nurseries Logo

Littlehampton gardeners are once again encouraged to enter the contest, which aims to promote civic pride and celebrate the achievements and enthusiasm of local horticulturists of all ages.  Children are welcome to enter the ‘grow the tallest sunflower’ challenge, once again sponsored by FA Holland & Son. And if you’re no Alan Titchmarsh yourself, remember that you can nominate a neighbour whose green-fingered skills are worthy of recognition.

Criteria and prizes: Nominees must reside within the BN17 postcode. Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including best communal garden. Commercial premises and allotment holders are also eligible to enter in specific categories. Winners who won first place for two consecutive years must have a break for one year before entering again. A prize for the best new entrant is sponsored by Going Spare. The closing date is on 26th June 2017.

Chair of the Allotments Working Group Cllr Billy Blanchard-Cooper said “The competition has grown in popularity throughout the years, with multiple new entrants taking part last year, which demonstrates that we have many keen gardeners of all ages and abilities in our Town. We are really keen to see a few more entries in the commercial category so if you’re a local business and have a garden, courtyard or wall for hanging baskets, get involved.”

Winners of each category will receive vouchers from principal sponsor, Ferring Nurseries.

Entry forms can be filled in online Gardens & Allotments Competition Form but please read the Garden & Allotments Competition Criteria 2017 [pdf] 203KB first.
