£18,070 per annum

We are seeking to appoint a temporary Archives & Exhibitions Officer at Littlehampton Museum for a period of 18 months to cover a secondment.
Under the direction of the Curator, the post holder will play a vital role in and make a fundamental contribution to the management of the Museum’s collections. This will include cataloguing, environmental management, operating MODES and raising awareness of the collections through exhibitions and promotion.
The priority for the Town Council’s Museum over the next 12 months is to process the collections backlog and this temporary post will work closely with the Collections Documentation Officer to ensure this happens.
As part of a job share post, the post holder will also work with the Museum team to support delivery of the Museum’s annual exhibitions program.
The post holder will be required to support and assist the Curator in the delivery of the accredited Museum service, events and the supervision of volunteers.
The successful applicant will be able to work on their own initiative, be confident dealing with the public and other Museum stakeholders and have excellent time management skills. They will have had experience of working in a museum or similar environment, collections management, exhibition design and installation, conducting historical research and supervising or working with volunteers. Experience of MODES is desirable, but consideration will be given to experience of other Collections Management Systems.
