Boxing Club

Under just two years old and the Littlehampton Boxing Club is pleased to announce that as from 1st September 2010 the Club will be affiliated to the Amateur Boxing Association of England (ABAE) and will be known as Littlehampton Amateur Boxing Club. This means that any member that is considered by the coaches to be good enough to be carded can go on and box at shows representing the club. A medical will be required to gain the card and more details of this will be provided at the appropriate time.

The Club is considering introducing an annual membership fee for all members due to the costs involved in running and maintaining an affiliated club. Ideally, this should be paid on the first session of the new season (5th Sept. 2010). If weekly instalments are more suitable, this is open for discussion, and we would welcome comments from Members on this matter.  The membership fees will be:

Juniors £15

Seniors £20

Subs will remain at £3 per session.

Two new sessions are being introduced. These will be on Tuesdays for juniors and Thursdays for seniors. Due to Hall availability the time for both will be from 8.00 to 9.00. I will confirm the times and when these will start in due course. Session times will therefore be:

Sundays

Juniors from 6.00 to 7.00

Seniors from 7.00 to 8.00

Tuesdays

(Juniors) from 8.00 to 9.00 (To be confirmed)

Thursdays

(Seniors) from 8.00 to 9.00 (To be confirmed)

All members must bring a gum shield with them to every session.

Boxing gloves and head guards are supplied, but members may bring their own if they wish. No junior will be allowed to spar without a gum shield or head guard being worn.

Boxing is a contact sport and injuries may occur. Parents of juniors must sign a consent on the membership form to allow their child to be part of the club.  For further information please contact Head Coach Steve Bailey on 07884072572.

Arun Community Week
Dates - 11th to 19th September 2010
Groups, individuals and charities are being encouraged to play their part in this year’s Arun Community Week.  Building on the success of 2010, planning is already well underway for the 2010 event which has fondly been dubbed “the people’s festival”. It runs this year from September 11 to September 19 with the aim of bringing people together to celebrate the district’s diverse community.
Existing and new activities, no matter how large or small, can be included in the programme for this third annual Community Week. Alternatively you can use the opportunity to celebrate a community activity that took place earlier in the year by setting up a display of photographs etc, perhaps ‘drumming up’ interest for next year. People who want to get involved are asked to contact organisers as soon as possible. See Aruns website for further info:
If you would like to find out more about Arun Community Week or register an event please contact Jan Koutsoumanis – Community Link Worker or Kristy Bristow 01903 726228 or e-mail acw@cvs-arunwide.org.uk.

Trading Standards Scheme currently run in West Sussex.
“Buy With Confidence” is a not for profit list of approved traders who have been thoroughly vetted and auditted by Trading Standards.   Consumers often have difficulty in choosing the right tradesman and Trading Standards has traditionally received numerous complaints regarding bogus callers and the unscrupulous who prey on the vulnerable.
“Buy With Confidence” is not a commercial venture, instead they only allow traders to use the logo once they have proven they can comply with the letter and spirit of the law.  Trading Standards ensure that any trader, staff and unsupervised sub-contractors provide a clean Criminal Record disclosure certificate.
