Are you a Metal Dectectorist?

Do you have any unidentified finds?

If so, why not bring it in to be identified at one of our Finds Sessions?

Littlehampton Museum currently hosts regular Finds Session for the public to bring in archaeological objects to be identified.

The Finds Sessions have been organized by the Portable Antiquities Scheme and are run by Laura Burnett who is the Finds Liaison Officer for Sussex.

If you cannot make it on the day, feel free to leave your finds with the Museum for Laura to record. Items will be returned once they have been identified. Laura will also be able to offer advice on a whole range of issues surrounding metal detecting and the discovery of archaeological material.

Please note this service is FREE!

Objects recently identified include:

A 13th Century silver brooch pin from Climping.

A 15th Century silver Spur from Houghton.(seen above)

A silver fob seal dating from AD1750.

All objects were generously donated to Littlehampton Museum and are on public display.
